COMMUNITY LEGAL HUBS

Legal support rooted in community. Insight that helps build better systems.

SM Legal Hubs bring trusted immigration support closer to the people who need it, while strengthening the links between individuals, communities, organisations and local services.

Our vision goes beyond resolving one immigration question. By listening to what communities experience on the frontline, we can identify recurring barriers, strengthen referral pathways and turn experience into practical learning for better services.

The SM Legal Hub vision
“

A legal problem rarely exists on its own. It sits within a person's family, work, community and everyday life.

THE VISION

A Trusted Bridge Between People, Communities and Services

For migrants and families, the challenge is not always simply understanding immigration law. It can be knowing where to go, who can help and whether the person they speak to understands their circumstances.

Community organisations often see those difficulties first. Local authorities, charities and service providers may also see the same barriers repeatedly from different perspectives.

The SM Legal Hub model brings professional immigration support closer to the community and creates stronger connections between organisations that already support local people.

Our wider ambition is to learn responsibly from repeated frontline experiences so that community voice can contribute to stronger services, better communication and informed policy conversations.

ACCESS • TRUST • CONNECTION

Why Legal Hubs Matter

Immigration issues often connect with family life, employment, housing, education, language, integration and access to public services. When support is fragmented, people can become lost between organisations.

01

Accessible

Professional immigration support closer to people, within familiar and trusted community settings.

02

Connected

Stronger links between legal advice, community organisations and relevant local services.

03

Practical

Helping people understand where they stand, what happens next and where additional support may be available.

THE SM MODEL

How the SM Legal Hub Works

The model connects individual legal support, trusted community relationships and wider learning while keeping the person at the centre.

01

Access

Bring professional support closer to the community.

02

Listen

Understand both the immigration issue and the barriers around it.

03

Connect

Link people with relevant local or specialist support where appropriate.

04

Learn

Identify repeated issues, service gaps and emerging community needs.

05

Improve

Use responsible insight to strengthen communication, partnerships and services.

The Legal Hub is more than an appointment. It is a community-based connection point between people, regulated immigration support, trusted local organisations and the wider services surrounding migrant communities.
BUILT THROUGH PARTNERSHIP

OUR FIRST LEGAL HUB

The Perth Legal Hub

In 2026, SM Immigration Lawyers launched its first community Legal Hub in Perth through partnership working.

The Perth Legal Hub provides free immigration advice and guidance in a regular local setting, helping people get clearer answers about their immigration position and next steps.

The Hub also strengthens links between professional immigration support and organisations already working with migrant communities.

For SM Immigration Lawyers, Perth is more than one advice location. It is the first practical step in our wider vision: local support, trusted community connections, frontline learning and better systems.
